Is Michigan on the List? Wendy’s to Close 140 Locations Nationwide
Independent restaurants in Michigan aren’t the only ones forced to close their doors lately—big franchise fast-food chains are also getting in on the action.
We’ve seen so many closures lately, including in the food and retail industries. Well, you can now add another big name to the list. Wendy’s, the popular fast-food chain, is set to close 140 locations nationwide.
Don’t worry, your favorite fast-food restaurant isn’t in financial trouble and won’t be going away anytime soon. The closures are strictly due to locations that were outdated and underperforming.

There’s some good news: while they’re planning closures, they’re also aiming to open just as many new locations as they’re closing by the end of the year.
According to MSN, Wendy’s has 7,166 locations including 6,010 in the U.S. and 1,156 internationally.
Will Michigan See Any of Wendy's Closures?
It’s unclear at the moment which locations will be closing, but the company says they will be spread out geographically, both in the U.S. and globally. So, as far as Michigan is concerned, we’ll just have to wait and see if the state will be affected.
As we mentioned earlier, Wendy’s isn’t the only chain announcing closures this year. According to Forbes, TGI Fridays, Outback Steakhouse, Applebee's, Boston Market, Red Lobster, Denny's, Cracker Barrel, Hardee's, and others have also announced closures at certain locations.
Many of those closures occurred right here in Michigan, leaving a significant number of employees out of work.
