Popular State Park in Michigan Planning Exciting Addition for 2025
The next time you make your way to Paradise, Michigan to visit one of the state's most popular parks, you'll notice an exciting new change.
Construction is underway at Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to improve the way visitors get to the 200-foot-wide Upper Falls.
A couple of years ago, a new 142-foot pedestrian bridge was put in place at Tahquamenon Falls State Park to access the island around the Lower Falls. While it had mixed reviews initially from locals, it was a much-needed upgrade. The Ronald A. Olson Island Bridge opened to the public in May of 2022.
According to MLive, a new boardwalk with benches is being built and will twist and turn through an old-growth forest. The 900-foot-long boardwalk will replace the aging 94 stairs leading to the brink of the Upper Falls.

The construction project will be completed in August 2025.
Can You Still Visit the Falls During Construction?
Yes, you'll still be able to visit the Upper Falls along with Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub.
It’s always amazing to hear how many people who have lived in Michigan their entire lives have never taken a trip to the Upper Peninsula to visit Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It’s something you really need to do, and right now is the perfect time, with the vibrant changing of the leaves.
