Three-Year-Old Dies After Being Locked in Burning Car

This makes me sick and I can imagine how a person could do this to anyone, let alone a 3-year-old child.

A 3-year-old girl died in New York City after a car fire on Sunday night. Officials investigating said that the doors were chained shut during the blaze and it is suspected that the child's father was the one who chained the door. Upon arriving at the fire, responders were able to free the child, Zoey Pereira, from the car. Unfortunately, she died from her injuries a short time later. Investigators also found two gas cans and a propane tank inside the vehicle.

The girl's father fled the scene only to be found a short distance away with injuries and was taken to the hospital and listed in critical but stable condition. Witnesses were able to identify the 39-year-old suspect. Although he has not been charged, police are treating the situation as a homicide investigation.
