A suspect has been taken into custody but details are vague at this moment, but the lasting damage from this incident will continue to go on. Incidents like this only fuel the negative mindset that plague the streets of Flint with a new shooting every week, we've got to find a way to stop this wave of mental illness that has our culture in a vice grip.

I'm not here to say how the streets should be run, or whether or not the man in question deserved anything. I'm here to highlight the fact that shootings have become normalized in Flint and that's doing more damage than anything else in the city. One could argue that Flint's economy is to blame. With poor job selection and dilapidated properties everywhere and not to mention the water crisis, Flint has all the recipes of a third-world country. That doesn't mean we have to wrap gun violence into our culture. The air of invincibility that our youth parade around in sets the tone for extreme violence at a moment's notice. I've seen it as a child walking around FLint, and now that I'm in my early 30's I don't see it slowing down at all. Hell, It looks like it only got worse with the introduction of social media.
I don't know what the solution is, but I know if we started to change our values, over time the new generation will have a better mindset.
