Hideo Kojima is back after an ugly break up with Konami, and is hard at work on a new IP for Playstation 4 called 'Death Stranding.' The new trailer looks incredible, but like most other early trailers for Kojima productions -- it's confusing as hell.

I won't BS you -- I'm a huge Hideo Kojima fanboy. No other game maker gets even 1/10 of the respect that I have for Kojima-san. Most of that is due to the incredible journey he took myself, and millions of other gamers on with his always exciting and never predictable Metal Gear Solid series. They are my favorite games, and probably always will be.

It still irks me that Konami screwed up 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,' because it was so close to being the greatest game ever made. The gameplay was incredible, but at a certain point in the game, you can tell where the company started rushing them to finish. A recent interview with The Game Awards host Geoff Kneighley revealed the nearly impossible conditions under which Konami forced Kojima to finish the game:

"The fact that he finished that game under those circumstances is just amazing. He was locked in a separate room on a different floor than his development team for the final six months of development. He couldn't even talk to them – he had to talk through someone else. That's how that game was finished."

That's no way to treat a creative genius who has made your company billions, but Konami had all but given up on platform-based games at that point. The company managed to do what Kojima himself never could -- put a nail in the coffin of Snake once and for all. However, the silver lining is that every other gaming company was lining up to get in business with Kojima, who ended up partnering with Sony.

He's been hard at work on a game called 'Death Stranding,' and we didn't know much about before yesterday's trailer was unveiled... and we still don't know much about it, actually. What we do know is that it stars Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Mads Mikelssen (Hannibal, Rogue One), and Guillermo del Toro, it has something to do with babies, undead and genetically/cybernetically enhanced soldiers, and it's hella weird. It's familiar territory for Kojima fans.

I don't care what it's about -- I'm going to play the hell out of this game. Too bad we likely won't be able to for a few more years.
