Why Is Michigan Cooking Thanksgiving Turkey In A Pillowcase?
This Thanksgiving pillowcase turkey hack is getting rave reviews once again.
Yes, you read that right. For this Thanksgiving hack, you need three things, one of which is a pillowcase, preferably a new, clean one.
According to the New York Post, roasting your bird inside a pillowcase is a great way to ensure your turkey is perfectly cooked. But wait, there is more. The other two ingredients needed for this Thanksgiving hack are butter and bacon!
How do I make pillowcase turkey?
First step, douse your turkey in butter and then wrap it in bacon.
Your next step is to drench a cotton pillowcase in wine, chicken broth, and more butter. Place your butter and bacon-slathered turkey inside of the pillowcase.
If the thought of cooking your Thanksgiving turkey in a pillowcase disgusts you, wrap your turkey in a cheesecloth instead.
It is recommended to start roasting the turkey at 500 degrees for the first 20 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees to finish cooking.
I am not going to pretend that I know the first thing about cooking a turkey. However, this hack does sound interesting.
Have you ever prepared a pillowcase turkey for Thanksgiving? If not, this may be the year to start.
