Davison Twp Residents Angered Over Another Closed Intersection

Genesee County residents are fired up over another road construction project that just started this week in Davison Township.

Davison residents and commuters have endured numerous road construction projects in recent years, and it appears that they will need to endure a few more.

Roughly a week ago the Genesee County Road Commission announced another project that would completely shut down the intersection at Irish and Bristol Roads in Davison Township.

Genesee County Road Commission:

On Monday, work will begin at the intersection of Bristol Rd. and Irish Rd. The intersection will be completely closed with a detour of Maple to Vassar to Atherton to M-15.

After the announcement was made on social media, people started firing off their complaints. The number one complaint was too many projects in the area happening at the same time.

You think we can finish one project in Davison before starting another? Having Lapeer one way and Irish jacked up has made it a nightmare.

Any chance you could hire a new project planner and fire your current one? This is ridiculous. Finish one project then move to the next. You’re making commutes in this area impossible.

One thing the road commission pointed out is that they have separate contractors working on each project and often have to work with their schedules.

Look, the road commission is doing its best and people need to be more patient and understanding with the work that is going on in the area.

Yes, this will be a big inconvenience for many but we can't complain about the roads in Genesee County not getting fixed and then complain when they start fixing them.

When Will the Intersection of Bristol Road and Irish Road be Complete?

The intersection will be closed until mid-November. Construction will start back up in the spring with the project being completed sometime next year.

Are They Turning The Intersection Into a Roundabout?

No. According to the Genesee County Road Commission, this is just a rehabilitation project. They're going to work on the intersection this fall and then Irish to Lang next spring.
