With 60+ Locations in Michigan, This Hotel Chain Was Named the Dirtiest Nationwide
There’s always an uneasy feeling I get when I stay at any hotel in Michigan, or honestly, anywhere else for that matter. It’s like if these walls could talk, what secrets would they spill? Chances are, we wouldn’t want to hear the answer.
Studies have shown remotes can hold more bacteria than a toilet seat because they’re touched so much but rarely cleaned properly. That's so gross when you think about it. Sometimes they'll place the remote in a plastic bag to try and comfort you that it's been cleaned, but even then, I'm still suspicious.
That’s just one example of how some of the things we interact with every day in hotel rooms can be seriously nasty. But it doesn’t stop there, door handles, light switches, faucet knobs, and even alarm clocks can be crawling with germs. Yes, they still have alarm clocks in hotel rooms.

When a hotel chain with over 60 locations in Michigan gets called the dirtiest in America, it’s enough to make you wonder what’s really going on. Here’s why I’m not buying that claim.
The Dirtiest Hotel Chain in the U.S.?
The Travel put out an article a while back listing the 20 dirtiest hotel chains in America. The problem with their article is that they never really explain how they came to those conclusions. No detailed data, no clear methodology, just a list that left a lot of people wondering if it was fair or accurate.
Well, their "findings" found that Hampton Hotels was ranked as the #1 dirtiest hotel chain in the United States. All they did was share one review that said something about the walls and carpet being sticky. You can't say that it's the dirtiest hotel chain based solely on that, come on.
While Hampton Hotels might not be the fanciest, I seriously doubt they’re the dirtiest hotel chain in America. I’ve stayed at plenty of Hamptons, and honestly, they were just fine. The remote? Well, that’s a whole other story.
