It's no secret that times are tough in Genesee County. But as a community we can make a difference, and mail carriers across the county are helping you do your part. The program that has donated over 1 billion pounds of food, Stamp Out Hunger, is holding it's annual food drive this Saturday, and you don't have to go further than your mailbox to donate.

Everybody has a box or a few cans of something that has been sitting in the back of their cupboards that is never going to get ate.  Instead of letting that food collect dust, give it to a great cause, Stamp Out Hunger.

Stamp Out Hunger has been around since 1993, and is put on by the National Association of Letter Carriers.  People wishing to donate can leave a bag or box of non-perishable goods by their mailbox before mail delivery on Saturday, May 12th.  Mail carriers will pick up the donated goods and deliver them directly to local food banks.  Donations may also be made at any post office.

According to recent studies, Michigan has almost 2 million food insecure residents.  The need in Genesee County is critically high and Stamp Out Hunger is such an easy way to help out people in our own community.
