The First New Store in Metro Detroit Since 2008 Opens This Weekend
There's a new store coming to Michigan. It's called Von Maur and they're opening up in Rochester Hill this weekend. Normally, it wouldn't be something to make a big deal out of, however, this is the first new department store in Metro Detroit since 2008. So, It's worth making a big deal out of it.
Usually, we're telling you about stores that are closing, not ones that are opening.
The grand opening celebration will take place this Saturday, March 19.
According to WDIV, Von Maur is located at 400 N. Adams Road within the lifestyle center. The massive 122,000 square foot, 2-level department store will open its doors and join the compelling mix of shops and restaurants at 10 a.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 9:45 am with the event running until 9 pm.
Rochester Hills Mayor, Bryan K. Barnett:
It’s an exciting day here in the City of Rochester Hills. This beautiful, new department store is a major investment in our city by both Robert B. Aikens & Associates and the Von Maur family. We are delighted that the long-awaited opening of this incredible department store is here, and we applaud the great new addition to Rochester Hills and the greater Detroit marketplace.
This isn't the only Von Maur in the state. Apparently, there are four locations in Michigan. The other locations can be found in Ann Arbor, Kentwood, and Livonia.
I'll be honest I've never heard of Von Maur but then again, I'm not much of a shopper.
Von Maur is an upscale fashion department store with with name brand apparel.
